Three Events!!!

Tim'm reads in Fire and Ink panel
Presented By Redbone Press
1143 New Hampshire Ave., NW
Host Hotel - Potomac, Lower Level
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Our arts and culture are a big part of black LGBT life. Many of us have used our books-be it Brother to Brother, edited by Essex Hemphill, Invisible Life by E. Lynn Harris, B-Boy Blues by James Earl Hardy, does your mama know? edited by Lisa C. Moore, or Spirited, edited by G. Winston James and Lisa C. Moore-as a way to validate our identity and affirm who we. Come hear some of the latest black LGBT authors read from their new works: Laurinda Brown, Walk Like a Man; Michael-Christopher, From Top to Bottom; Doug Cooper-Spencer, This Place of Men; Wyatt Evans, Nothing Can Tear Us Apart; Clarence J. Fluker, Dorothy Harris and Tonya Parker, from Spirited: Affirming the Soul and Black Gay/Lesbian Identity; Lee Hayes, A Deeper Blue; G. Winston James, The Damaged Good; Lisa C. Moore, from Voices Rising; Michelle Sewell, Growing Up Girl; and Tim’m T. West, Flirting.

Host: Tim'm West
Location: The Clubhouse at New Haven Apartments and Townhomes

Some of you remember Tim'm from his time in North Carolina as a college student in the early 90's. Since he's grown up and gone on to accomplish much-- but has never forgotten his roots. Published author, poet, Hip Hop artist, educator, scholar, and activist, are among the titles he claims. Please join us in this exclusive event featuring readings from his new book, "Flirting" and a live performance of selected work from the new Family Ties release "Blakkboy Blue(s)". Tim'm is the author of "Red Dirt Revival" and released "Songs from Red Dirt" on Cellular Records in 2004. We will also be showing clips from Byron Hurt's "Beyond Beats and Rhymes" (PBS) and Alex Hinton's "Pick Up the Mic" (LOGO), both of which feature Tim'm as an artist on the verge of whatever lies next in the Hip Hop landscape.
